PSV 3 – NEC 2 (KNVB Beker, February 2, 2012) PSV’s in-form striker Dries Mertens put the hosts 1-up with a fine drive following a loose free-kick in the 5th minute, but NEC were level ten minutes later when the onrushing Nick Van der Velden equalised having seen a shot saved off the line. PSV looked to kill the match in the run-up to the break as Tim Matavz (41) and Kevin Strootman (43) opened up a two goal cushion for the hosts, but NEC kept the tie very much alive as Kevin Conboy scored on the stroke of halftime.
