Robben’s brace ends Bayern’s year on a high; Schalke end second; Bremen in Champs League; Stuttgart in Europa; Bochum relegated with Hertha

Hertha Berlin 1 – Bayern Munich 3 (Bundesliga, May 8, 2010) Champions Bayern Munich broke the deadlock at relegated Hertha after 20 minutes as Ribery and Robben combined before Ivica Olic drilling a low drive into the far corner. Adrian Ramos drew Hertha level on the hour, but within 15 minutes Bayern were back in front when Arjen Robben scored with a 20-yard effort. Bayern’s player of the season close out the year with a third, Arjen Robben cracked home a volley after a deflected shot rebounded off the bar.

Mainz 0 – Schalke 0 (Bundesliga May 8, 2010) Manuel Neuer was Schalke’s hero as the German keeper made a string of top quality saves before stopping a second half penalty to earned the visitors a point.

Wolfsburg 3 – Eintracht Frankfurt 1 (Bundesliga, May 8, 2010) Zvijezdan Misimovic blasted Wolfsburg into the lead against Frankfurt with a close-range volley at the back post. Sascha Riether doubled the hosts lead on the half hour, before serial-goalscorer Edin Dzeko scored a brilliant solo effort as he turned his marker and finished with aplomb.

Hoffenheim 1 – Stuttgart 1 (Bundesliga, May 8, 2010) A fabulous end-to-end attack from Stuttgart ended when Cacau swept home the opener after 20 minutes, but Hoffenheim levelled on the stroke of halftime when Boris Vukcevic headed home a corner on the stroke of halftime. Monchengladbach 1 – Bayer Leverkusen 1 (Bundesliga, May 8, 2010) Bayer Leverkusen struck 10 minutes before the interval at Gladbach when Patrick Helmes scored a rebound after the keeper could only parry a save. Roel Brouwers pulled the hosts back on an even-keel ten minutes into the second half.

Werder Bremen 1 – Hamburg 1 (Bundesliga May 8, 2010) A cheeky close-range backheel from striker Claudio Pizarro gave Werder the advantage against Hamburg just before the hour. Ruud van Nistelrooy earned Hamburg a point when he controlled a cut-back on the edge of the box and blasted the ball into the roof of the net.

Bochum 0 – Hannover 3 (Bundesliga, May 8, 2010) Hannover raced into 3-nil lead in the first half at Bochum, Arnold Jan Bruggink opened after six minutes, Mike Hanke doubled the lead midway through the half before Sergio Pinto added number three in the final seconds of the half.

Freiburg 3 – Borussia Dortmund 1 (Bundesliga, May 8, 2010) Lucas Barrios slipped Dortmund into the lead early in the second half, but Freiburg rallied through Mohamadou Idrissou in the hour and then Papiss Demba Cisse put the relegation strugglers in the lead with 20 minutes to go. Papiss Demba Cisse completed the home win that guaranteed Freiburg’s top flight status with a 90th minute third.

Nurnberg 1 – Cologne 0 (Bundesliga, May 8, 2010) Nurnberg remain in the thick of the relegation dogfight finishing the season in the play-offs place, Andreas Ottl scored in the 88th minute with a picture-perfect free-kick to secure a dramatic late win.
