Goals in Germany: Hoffenheim & Werder Bremen win away

Hertha Berlin 0 – Hoffenheim 2 (Bundesliga, February 27, 2010) Demba Ba opened for Hoffenheim at rock-bottom Hertha with a fine solo goal on the half hour, the striker weaved through two defenders in the box before stroking the ball into the far corner. Vedad Ibisevic skinned his man and smashed home the second in injury-time.

Mainz 1 – Werder Bremen 2 (Bundesliga, February 27, 2010) Mainz were up against it after 13 minutes when defender Florian Heller saw red, and Werder took advantage through Tim Borowski’s overhit free-kick on the half hour. Mainz equalised on the stroke of halftime through their leading goalscorer Aristide Bance’s bullet, but Bremen retook the lead five minutes after the break when Sebastian Prodl bagged the visitors’ second.

Stuttgart 2 – Eintracht Frankfurt 1 (Bundesliga, February 27, 2010) Benjamin Kohler put Frankfurt into a surprise lead at Stuttgart in the 39th minute, but the hosts managed to turn the match in their favour before the interval as man of the moment Cacau netted his sixth and seventh (a cracker!) goals in just three matches to continue his red-hot scoring streak.

Monchengladbach 1 – Freiburg 1 (Bundesliga, February 27, 2010) Papiss Demba Cisse fired Freiberg into the lead ten minutes after the break, but Gladbach’s main man this season Roel Brouwers claimed an equaliser midway through the second half.
