Franck Ribery’s unbelievable form continued early doors against Eintracht Frankfurt, the Frenchman crashing home a beauty from outside the box. Ribery then set up the second, chipping a free-kick into Luca Toni who perfectly hooked the ball on the volley high into the near post. Lucio grabbed a third before the break with a back post header. Bastian Schweinsteiger scored the fourth after the break.
Monchengladbach 1 – Wolfsburg 2 (Bundesliga, April 11, 2009) Misimovic sent a high cross into the box where Edin Dzeko nodded home from six yards to give Wolfsburg the lead. Gladbach made the guests pay for their poor finishing as Dante headed in the equaliser off Marko Marin’s free-kick with 11 minutes to play. But Wolfsburg regained the lead with five minutes left, Dzeko’s long shot was blocked near the spot but Sascha Riether poked home past Bailly for the winner.
Borussia Dortmund 3 – Cologne 1 (Bundesliga, April 11, 2009) Nemanja Vucicevic fired the visitors into a shock lead after just 10 minutes but Neven Subotic equalised on 29 minutes for the home side. And Tamas Hajnal put Dortmund in front early in the second half before an own goal from Pedro Geromel sealed Cologne’s fate.
Hoffenheim 0 – Bochum 3 (Bundesliga, April 11, 2009) Stanislav Sestak claimed a hat-trick to down Hoffenheim, who had Carlos Eduardo and Daniel Haas sent off within a minute.
Schalke 2 – Karlsruhe 0 (Bundesliga, April 11, 2009) Kevin Kuranyi and Jefferson Farfan were on target as Schalke secured a 2-0 home win over bottom club Karlsruhe.
Energie Cottbus 2 – Arminia Bielefeld 1 (Bundesliga, April 11, 2009) Dimitar Rangelov gave Cottbus the lead in the 43rd minute but Vlad Munteanu equalised shortly after the interval. Stanislav Angelov sealed the win for the hosts with his goal in the 59th minute.
