Bayer Leverkusen 1 – Bayern Munich 1 (Bundesliga, April 10, 2010) Ribery was taken out in the Leverkusen box early in the second half and Arjen Robben’s superb goalscoring form continued as the Dutchman converted from the spot. Bayer levelled inside ten minutes as Arturo Vidal converted a rebound after a curling free-kick had smacked against the Bayern bar.
Hannover 4 – Schalke 2 (Bundesliga, April 10, 2010) (Longer highlights here.) After being knocked off top-spot against Bayern last weekend, Schalke had a horrific start to the match at Hannover when Heiko Westermann was in the wrong place at the wrong time to deflect a shot into his own net. And it got worse for Schalke in the 29th minute when a simple ball forward freed Didier Ya Konan who took advantage of a crazy decision from keeper Neuer to leave his line by stroking a shot into an unguarded net. Edu gave Schalke the perfect response less than a minute into the second half when he picked up the ball on the right side of the box an stroked a left footed shot into the far post. Schalke’s incredible fightback continued the 52nd minute when Ivan Rakitic pulled the title hopefuls level from the penalty spot. A fantastic match swung back in to Hannover’s favour 10 minutes from time when Hanno Balitsch cracked a stunner into the top corner from 25-yards. Hannover, second bottom at the start of play, moved out the automatic relegation places with a fourth in the last minute, Didier Ya Konan the hero with a super solo goal as the hosts gave their survival hopes a major boost in the arm.
Mainz 1 – Borussia Dortmund 0 (Bundesliga, April 10, 2010) A fantastic display of quick-feet, close control and a clinical finish saw Adam Szalai blast Mainz into a half hour lead at home to Dortmund.
Werder Bremen 4 – Freiburg 0 (Bundesliga, April 10, 2010) Claudio Pizarro bundled Werder Bremen into a 35th minute lead at home to Freiburg. Werder bagged their second in the 53rd minute as Aaron Hunt took the ball off Pizarro on the edge of the box and fired a low shot into the near post. Two quickly become three when Claudio Pizarro controlled a left wing cross and applied the killer finish. Relegation-strugglers Freiburg then started to get humiliated as Mesut Ozil beat both a defender and the keeper on his way to claiming number four in the 66th.
Hoffenheim 0 – FC Cologne 2 (Bundesliga, April 10, 2010) 20-year-old Polish midfielder Adam Matuschyk broke his duck for Cologne sixty seconds into the second half with Hoffenheim with a 20-yard swerving strike into the top corner. Adam Matuschyk’s day got even better eight minutes from time when the youngster rifled home a low shot to claimed his second of the game and the three points.
Hertha Berlin 0 – Stuttgart 1 (Bundesliga, April 10, 2010) Hertha Berlin’s survival hopes took a hammer blow in the 74th minute at home to Stuttgart when striker Cacau watched his shot take a deflection and loop into the back of the net.
