Ligue 1: Marseille narrow gap with Bordeaux; Rennes win at Nancy; Le Mans ease relegation worries

Marseille 2 – Boulogne 0 (Ligue 1, December 12, 2009) (Longer highlights here.) OM moved with three points of leader Bordeaux. Gabriel Heinze scored for Marseille with a header in the 48th minute off a corner from Benoit Cheyrou. Nigeria fullback Taye Taiwo made it 2-0 by converting a penalty kick in the 54th after Lucho Gonzalez was fouled.

Le Mans 2 – Valenciennes 1 (Ligue 1, December 12, 2009) Anthony Le Tallec scored a stoppage-time winner as 10-man Le Mans beat seventh-placed Valenciennes 2-1. Sebastien Corchia’s opener for Le Mans had been cancelled out five minutes later by Gael Danic before the hosts had Modibo Maiga sent off for two bookable offences on the stroke of half-time.

Lens 2 – Nice 0 (Ligue 1, December 12, 2009) Kanga Akale and Toifilou Maoulida scored as Lens beat 10-man Nice 2-0 at home, with Mamadou Bagayoko dismissed for the visitors.

Nancy 1 – Rennes 2 (Ligue 1, December 12, 2009) Julien Feret put the hosts ahead, but a Bakaye Traore own goal four minutes into the second period levelled matters and Sylvain Marveaux scored a 69th-minute winner two minutes after Damian Macaluso was sent off.
