Nantes 1 – PSG 4 (Ligue 1, February 7, 2009) Peguy Luyindula’s cross fell fortunate in the path of Ludovic Giuly as PSG took the lead against Nantes. Peguy Luyindula then got in on the scoring act himself by outstripping the defence to collect a long and calmly lift the ball on the onrushing keeper. Djamel Abdoun gave Nantes a lifeline scoring from the spot. Luyindula and Giuly combined again in the second half as PSG restored their two-goal cushion. Stephane Sessegnon killed the game with the goal of the match.
Nancy 0 – Auxerre 2 (Ligue 1, February 7, 2009) Goals from Cedric Hengbart and Ireneusz Jelen secured a sixth victory of the season for Auxerre, although results elsewhere mean they remain just one point above the drop zone.
St. Etienne 3 – Caen 2 (Ligue 1, February 7, 2009) Caen took the lead with an own-goal from defender Mouhamadou Dabo after two minutes. Bafetimbi Gomis took advantage of a mistake from Caen defender Sorbon to equalise into an empty net in the 63rd. Araujo Ilan slid in a low cross from Payet in the 67th before finding the net again in the 71st with an assist from Gomis. Steve Savidan cut Saint-Etienne’s lead with a header in the 88th.
Le Havre 1 – Rennes 0 (Ligue 1, February 7, 2009) Amadou Alassane controlled the ball with his chest and then fired home in the 90th to upset Rennes and end a 7-game losing streak for the home side.
Lorient 1 – Monaco 1 (Ligue 1, February 7, 2009) Yohan Mollo beat the offside trap to collect a pass from Pokrivac and open the scoring for Monaco. Fabrice Abriel leveled for Lorient in the 57th from close range off a pass from Marama Vahirua.
Lille 3 – Sochaux 2 (Ligue 1, February 7, 2009) Romain Pitau put Sochaux ahead with a lob in the 34thÂ minute and Vaclav Sverkos made it 2-nil with a penalty just before the break. Sochaux was reduced to 10-men after Omar Daf picked up a second yellow, and that changed the match. Pierre-Alain Frau nodded in for Lille in the 59th before Robert Vittek levelled in the 75th from a tight angle. Eden Hazard outpaced the Sochaux defence to notch the winner in the 89th with a long range drive.
