Ligue 1: Bordeaux go top with Le Mans win; PSG’s CL hopes are dented by Auxerre

PSG 1 – Auxerre 2 (Ligue 1, May 16, 2009) Ibrahima Camara slotted a penalty away to hand Auxerre a first half lead and Ireneusz Jelen’s second just before the break left PSG up against it at the break. Stephane Sessegnon scored a late consolation for the Parisians.

Bordeaux 3 – Le Mans 2 (Ligue 1, May 16, 2009) Bordeaux fell behind at home to Le Mans when Anthony Le Tallec scored after 24 minutes. Marouane Chamakh brought Bordeaux with a header before the hosts turned the match in their favour when Yoann Gourcuff added a second on the stroke of halftime. Le Mans rallied with a superb attyack in the 55th minute which ended with Anthony Le Tallec grabbing his brace. Marc Planus proved the match winner, in the right place at the right time to score a rebound after a shot hit the post.

Monaco 1 – Valenciennes 1 (Ligue 1, May 16, 2009) A low shot from Park Chu-young into the near post put Monaco ahead against Valenciennes. Johan Audel drew VA level on teh hour mark scoring from a corner.

Lorient 1 – Le Havre 1 (Ligue 1, May 16, 2009) Le Harve’s Mamadou Diallo scored a low 20-yard drive that squirmed through the Lorient’s keeper’s grasp in the 11th minute. The hosts equalised when Marama Vahirua’s lofty free-kick sailed over the keeper into the top corner.

St. Etienne 2 – Toulouse 2 (Ligue 1, May 16, 2009) A powerful Moustapha Bayal Sall header from a corner put St. Etienne in front against Toulouse. Sissoko pulled Toulouse level in the 66th minute, only for Ilan to restore the hosts lead from the spot. But Toulouse had a sting in their tail, Andre-Pierre Gignac earning the visitors a point with a late equaliser.

Caen 2 – Sochaux 0 (Ligue 1, May 16, 2009) A late Steve Savidan brace, the first coming from a long punt forward that the striker managed to lift over the keeper and the second a well-taken finish after bursting through the middle, wrapped up the win for Caen.

Grenoble 0 – Nancy 0 (Ligue 1, May 16, 2009) The closest either team came to scoring a goal was when Nancy midfielder Benjamin Gavanon rattled the post from long range midway through the first half.
