Bristol City 0 – Portsmouth 2 (FA Cup, January 13, 2009) Armand Traore broke down the right, carried his run in the box before teeing up Peter Crouch for the opener. Pompey sealed the win with a late second, Nadir Belhadj led a pacey counter-attack which was eventually finished by Nico Kranjcar. At the death Bristol’s Nicky Maynard saw his penalty saved by David James.

St. Johnstone 0 – Rangers 2 (Scottish FA Cup, January 13, 2009) Kenny Miller’s attempt at back-heel went horribly wrong but unfortunately for Stuart McCaffrey he got himself in the way of the ball, to score past his own keeper Alan Main. Nacho Novo sealed the win with a tap-in from Steven Davis’ pass in the second half.

Inter Milan 3 – Genoa 1 (AET) (Coppa Italia, January 13, 2009) (Longer highlights here.) Genoa conceded an early penalty and had Biava sent off in the process, only for Adriano to see his spot kick wonderfully saved. (First half highlights here.) With fifteen minutes remaining Adriano made a mends by heading in the opener. But Genoa’s Marco Rossi levelled for four minutes later with a stunning drive into the top corner to take the game into extra time. Inter retook the lead early in extra time, Zlatan’s shot popped out of the keeper’s grasp and Cambiasso was on hand to score the rebound. And Inter quickly opened up a two goal cushion when Ibrahimovic netted a cheeky goal past the keeper after his initial shot had been saved.
