Twente close in on Eredivisie title; Porto & Braga away wins; Spartak & Samara win at home; Dynamo win Kiev derby

FC Twente 2 – Heerenveen 0 (Eredivisie, April 10, 2010) Steve McClaren’s troops had to wait until the 70th minute to break the deadlock against their well-organised opponents, Cheik Tiote scoring the all-important goal with his first for the club. Luuk de Jong made sure of the points with the second at the death as Twente extended their advantage to seven points with three games remaining.

NAC Breda 1 – Roda 0 (Eredivisie, April 10, 2010) A Danny Gorter penalty gave NAC Breda a 1-0 victory over mid-table rivals Roda.

Rio Ave 0 – Porto 1 (Liga Sagres, April 10, 2010) Substitute Ernesto Farias struck the only goal for the visitors on the hour as Porto moved 15 points clear of fourth-placed Sporting, who have five games remaining.

Uniao Leiria 1 – Braga 2 (Liga Sagres, April 10, 2010) Cassio opened the scoring for the hosts with a 12th minute stunner but Albert Ze Meyong levelled after 31 minutes and Wason Renteria bagged the winner three minutes later. The result moved Braga within three points of Benfica, who host Sporting Lisbon on Tuesday.

Spartak Moscow 2 – Terek Grozny 1 (Russian Premier League, April 10, 2010) Shamil Asildarov scored at the second attempt on the quarter hour to put Terek into a surprise lead. Spartak levelled early in the second half when visiting defender Antonio couldn’t get out of the way of a powerful low cross to score an own goal from a yard out. Weliton, with his third goal of the season, won the match for Spartak with a dramatic 90th minute winner.

Samara 2 – Saturn 1 (Russian Premier League, April 10, 2010) A 10th minute tap-in from Anton Bober put Samara in the lead and Nenad Djordjevic doubled the advantage 10 minutes from time with a fabulous free-kick. Petr Nemov’s late half-volley proved mere consolation for Saturn.

Besiktas 0 – Trabzonspor 0 (Super Lig, April 10, 2010) Besiktas missed the chance to go above Fenerbahce into second place in the Super Lig table as they were held to a goalless draw at home to Trabzonspor.

Antalyaspor 1 – Istanbul Buyuksehir 3 (Super Lig, April 10, 2010) Istanbul Buyuksehir moved up to sixth with a 3-1 win away to Antalyaspor. Tevfik Kose gave the visitors the lead on the stroke of half-time but Yalcin Ayhan levelled for Antalyaspor in the 53rd minute. Buyuksehir restored their lead 11 minutes later through Ali Guzeldal and Iskender Alin wrapped up the win with 20 minutes to go.

Dynamo Kiev 3 – Arsenal Kiev 1 (Ukrainian Premier League, April 10, 2010) A classy finish from Croatian midfielder Ognjen Vukojevic, curling home a beauty fro the edge of the box, put Dynamo ahead of Arsenal in the Kiev derby. Dynamo opened up a 3-nil lead early in the death half when Gerson Magrao and Artem Milevsky scored within four minutes of each other. Sergey Zakarlyuka pulled a goal back for Arsenal in the 73rd but the match ended on a sour note for the visitors when Bohdan Shershun and Sergey Simonenko both saw red in the closing stages.

Hacken 0 – Atvidaberg 0 (Allsvenskan, April 10, 2010) Hacken’s unbeaten start to the season continued as they claimed their second goalless draw in succession.

Aarhus 0 – Aalborg 2 (SAS Ligaen, April 10, 2010) Lasse Nielsen gave the Aalborg side the lead in the 24th minute and Andreas Johansson doubled their advantage with eight minutes to go.

Hapoel Tel Aviv 3 – Hapoel Ramat Gan 1 (Ligat ha’Al, April 10, 2010) Goalie Vincent Anyema put Hapoel in front from the penalty spot as the Reds coasted to victory. Just six minutes later, Eran Zahavi scored to double Hapoel’s lead. Itay Schechter finished off the team’s scoring with a 33rd minute penalty kick.
