Juventus 1 – Vicenza 1 (Friendly, July 21, 2009) Juventus had a difficult first half against Vicenza, the Old Lady’s backline was torn apart after 16 minutes allowing Gianvito Misuraca to tuck in a simple opener and then the Bianconeri were reduced to 10-men after Amauri was caught punching an opponent in the face just two minutes later. (First half highlights here.) Juve equalised 15 minutes from time courtesy of a David Trezeguet penalty.
Stuttgart Kickers 0 – Bayern Munich 10 (Friendly, July 21, 2009) (Longer highlights here.) Mario Gomez rose high and powerfully to meet a back-post cross and head Bayern into a 16th minute lead over Stuttgart Kickers. In a four minute spell starting just prior to the hour mark Bayern put the game to bed, new signing Ivica Olic scored his first goal for the club, Thomas Muller added the third before Hamit Altintop chipped in with number four. Bayern then went into overdrive, Olic claimed his brace and Andreas Gorlitz then got in on the act. Thomas Muller then grabbed two more goals to complete his hat-trick, Olic closed out his trips, and Mario Gomez headed in number 10.
Bordeaux 2 – Marseille 1 (Friendly, July 21, 2009) Tayo Taiwo continued his fine pre-season walloping a corner home from close range. Fernando Cavenaghi glanced home a Gourcuff free-kick in the 37th minute, and after Arsenal target Maroune Chamakh burst through the middle before being hacked down in the box Yoann Gourcuff stepped up to score from the spot.
Wiener Neustadt 1 – Napoli 4 (Friendly, July 21, 2009) German Denis bagged a late double for Napoli.
Hoffenheim 2 – Fenerbahce 1 (Friendly, July 21, 2009) Alex headed Fener into the lead at the break, but second half goals from Marco Terrazzino and Pascal Gross (a freak lob) handed the Bundesliga outfit victory.
Benfica 1 – Atletico Madrid 2 (Friendly, July 21, 2009) Raul Garcia fired the Spanish side in front with a fine long range effort on ten minutes. Barely ten minutes later, the hosts were level when Oscar Cardozo got to the end of a Javier Saviola through-ball. Diego Forlan restored Atleticoâ€™s lead at the end of the first half when he converted a penalty after Sergio Aguero was fouled in the area.
Vitoria Guimaraes 2 – Sporting Lisbon 2 (Friendly, July 21, 2009) New signing Matias Fernandez and Helder Poistiga looked to have put Sporting in control but two goals late on from Roberto and Jorge Goncalves levelled the match.
Trabzonspor 2 – Heerenveen 2 (Friendly, July 21, 2009) Viktor Elm put Heerenveen in front, Alanzinho levelled with a close range tap in for the Turks. Gerald Sibon restored the Dutchman’s lead three minutes later only for a frantic first half to end with Giray Kacar equalising for Trabzonspor.
CFR Cluj 1 – AEK Athens 1 (Friendly, July 21, 2009) A low Ismael Blanco drive put AEK in front of Cluj five minutes before the break. The Romanians drew level just before the hour mark through a Cadu penalty.
Club Brugge 1 – AZ Alkmaar 0 (Friendly, July 20, 2009) Wesley Sonck scored after only eight minutes, sliding a ball home at the far post.
