Thursday’s Friendlies: Blackburn come back from 2-down against Roma; Fulham crack five past Perth; West Brom beat Nafta

Roma 2 – Blackburn 2 (Pens. 3-2) (Friendly, July 16, 2009) Roma took a two-goal lead after Steven NZonzi’s mistake allowed Rodrigo Taddei to score, and John Arne Riise drove a free-kick past Jason Brown. Paul Gallagher scored on the stroke of halftime, the striker coolly converted after Jason Roberts had taken advantage of a poor error by Riise. And Rovers then pulled level as teenager Aaron Doran scored on 52 minutes, firing home his first goal for Rovers from Keith Treacy’s cross.

Perth Glory 0 – Fulham 5 (Friendly, July 15, 2009) Andrew Johnson gave Fulham a 16th minute lead before Erik Nevland stole the headlines blasting a seven-minute hat-trick (60, 64, 67) after replacing Bobby Zamora at halftime. Former Melbourne midfielder Adrian Leijer completed the rout in the 83rd.

NK Nafta 0 – West Brom 3 (Friendly, July 15, 2009) Luke Moore,Jonathan Greening and Jonas Olsson scored as the Baggies strolled to victory in Slovenia.

Benfica 2 – Athletic Bilbao 1 (Friendly, July 16, 2009) Athletic struck first in the 17th minute when Toquero was given the freedom of the Benfica box to head an Orbaiz cross past Moretto. Benfica needed two minutes in the second half to equalise, Javier Saviola headed home a cross from Fabio Coentrao to level. And the Argentine later popped up with the winner as Saviola converted a Coentrao corner at the far post.
