Diego Gaucho equalised on the half hour only for Bruno Alves to head Porto into the lead again. Seven minutes into the second half Ronny equalised again only for Radamel Falcao to claim his second and the winner midway through the second period. The final minutes of the match were not without incident, both sides had a player sent off and Ronny missed a penalty to make it 3-3 in the 90th minute, with Porto keeper Helton the hero.
Olhanense 1 – Pacos Ferreira 1 (Superliga, January 11, 2009) Olhanense and Pacos Ferreira drew 1-1 after Branco Zequinha (74) cancelled out Artur William’s first-half opener.
Orduspor 0 – Galatasaray 3 (Turkish Cup, January 11, 2009) The hosts were up against it when Erol Yuksever saw red after just four minutes. Arda Turan put Gala 1-up after 10 minutes and Orduspor’s resolve was finally broken when Shabani Nonda netted the visitors’ third. Nonda sealed the win with a third in the 61st minute.

Olympiakos 2 – Larissa 1 (Greek Super League, January 11, 2009) Olympiakos netted two late goals in the first half against Larissa, the hosts firstly slicing their way through the visitors after 38 minute with Enzo Maresca slotting in the opener. With their noses in front, Luciano Galetti turned in a right wing cross to double Olympiakos’ lead two minutes later. A thunderous drive from Romeu gave Larissa hope with a couple of minutes left, but it proved too little too late.

Maccabi Haifa 3 – Hapoel Raanana 0 (Ligat ha’Al, January 10, 2009) In the 35th minute, Haifa striker Vladimir Dvalishvili was the beneficiary of a beautiful pass from defender Jorge Teixeira. The tandem of Teixeira and Dvalishvili would strike again just nine minutes later as the Georgian notched his second goal of the game. In the 47th minute, midfielder Lior Rafaelov headed a lob from Yaniv Katan to cap the scoring for the reigning champs.
