Ajax needed just eight minutes to score at Utrecht as the Amsterdammers put together a fine team move with Gregory van der Wiel eventually firing the ball home. On the hour mark Marco van Basten’s team when 2-up when Jan Vertonghen came up from the head home a set-play.
Feyenoord 2 – Vitesse 2 (Eredivisie, March 1, 2009) (Longer highlights here.) A picture-perfect free-kick from Nick Hofs gave Vitesse the lead at Feyenoord but the hosts pulled level just before the break through Georginio Wijnaldum. The ding-dong battle continued into the second half, Dalibor Stevanovic crashed home a perfect half-volley on the hour mark but Roy Makaay score to bring Feyenoord level once more.
Volendam 1 – NEC 1 (Eredivisie, March 1, 2009) (Longer highlights here.) Melvin Platje’s goal looked to be enough for the basement side to claim the win and three points, which would have lifted them off the foot of the table. But Milano Koenders broke the hearts of the home fans as he levelled four minutes into added time.
Standard Liege 4 – Cercle Brugge 0 (Jupiler League, March 1, 2009) Standard were quickly on course for their victory when Igor De Camargo and Dieudonne Mbokani fired them into a 2-0 lead after 11 minutes. Mbokani got his second of the day in the 51st minute and three minutes later Reginal Goreux made sure of a comfortable afternoon.

Konyaspor 0 – Galatasaray 1 (Super Lig, March 1, 2009) Arda Turan’s brave header was enough for Gala.
Antalyaspor 0 – Trabzonspor 1 (Super Lig, March 1, 2009) Umut Bulut’s back post header 15 minutes from time kept Trabzonspor in the title hunt. As always, Trabzonspor celebrated their win with the now famous dance-off.
Denizlispor 2 – Gaziantepspor 0 (Super Lig, February 28, 2009) A goal in each half from Aladag and Angelov sealed the win.
Eskisehirspor 1 – Kayserispor 0 (Super Lig, February 28, 2009)
Belenenses 1 – Naval 2 (Superliga, March 1, 2009) In the 21st minute Naval’s Godemeche picked up a loose rebound and slipped the ball inside the near post to open the scoring. The hosts levelled just before the break when Wender fired a low shot beating Peiser. Naval’s winner came in injury time as Gilmar, much like the first Naval goal, picked up a rebound and scored.

Olympiakos 0 – Panathinaikos 0 (Greek Super League, March 1, 2009) Panathinaikos played much of the second half with ten men after defender Josu Sarriegi saw a second yellow card in the 57th minute. Olympiakos stay top.
Jagiellonia 3 – Arka Gdynia 0 (Ekstraklasa, February 28, 2009)A Frankowski brace and a third from Zawistowski did the damage.
