RKC Waalwijk 0 – AZ Alkmaar 6 (Eredivisie, August 15, 2009) After Moussa Dembele controlled the play down the AZ left hand side, he threaded a pass through to Mounir El Hamdaoui who scored past the Waalwijk keeper. After the break Moussa Dembele cracked in a high shot for number two. Midway through the second half, El Hamdaoui scored his second of the night before Martens netted twice (first and second) and substitute Jeremain Lens scored in the final 15 minutes.

ADO Den Haag 0 – FC Twente 1 (Eredivisie, August 15, 2009) Blaise Nkufo scored a 64th minute goal to earn Steve McClaren’s Twente an away win which put them top of the Dutch league.

Heerenveen 1 – Vitesse Arnhem 0 (Eredivisie, August 15, 2009) Hernan Losada’s 13th minute goal was enough for Heerenveen to pick up a first win of the Eredivisie season.

Sparta 2 – Willem II 1 (Eredivisie, August 15, 2009)  Bart Biemans put Willem II ahead on 16 minutes, but Kevin Strootman levelled on the hour mark and Rydell Poepon grabbed the winner five minutes later.

Nacional 1 – Sporting Lisbon 1 (Superliga, August 15, 2009) Francisco Jairo scored at both ends, his opener putting Nacional ahead after 26 minutes but his own goal with 15 minutes to go denying his side a memorable win.

Braga 1 – Academica Coimbra 0 (Superliga, August 15, 2009) Albert Ze Meyong scored the winner with just three minutes to go, and Academica’s frustration boiled over late on with Paulo Sergio seeing red in the 89th minute.

Galatasaray 4 – Denizlispor 1 (Super Lig, August 15, 2009) Emil Angelov gave the visitors the lead in the 39th minute, but Harry Kewell equalised from the spot on the stroke of halftime and Arda Turan put Gala in front on the hour mark. Kewell’s second penalty of the night and an own goal from Ahmet Solakel sealed the result for Frank Rijkaard’s men.

Trabzonspor 1 – Diyarbakirspor 2 (Super Lig, August 15, 2009) Remzi Giray Kacar put the hosts in front in the 35th minute, but Thierry Tazemeta levelled matters in the 69th minute before the visitors snatched all three points with only moments remaining.

Hammarby 2 – Elfsborg 3 (Allsvenskan, August 15, 2009) Stefan Ishizaki gave the visitors the lead in the 18th minute, but it lasted just three minutes before Andreas Dahl levelled from the spot. Anders Svensson restored Elfsborg’s advantage three minutes from the interval and Ishizaki appeared to seal the win with his second six minutes from time. But Rafael Magalhaes pulled one back two minutes later to set up a nervy finale. Elfsborg are now a point above Gothenburg, who have a game in hand, while Hammarby remain in relegation trouble.

Kalmar 1 – Gefle 1 (Allsvenskan, August 15, 2009) Daniel Mendes put the hosts ahead shortly before the hour mark, but Yannick Bapupa levelled matters in the 76th minute.

Rosenborg 2 – Bodo Glimt 0 (Tippeligaen, August 15, 2009) Rosenborg stayed top of Norway thanks to second half goals from Lustig and Steffen Iverson.

Sion 3 – Zurich 3 (Swiss Super League, August 15, 2009) Sion moved ahead through Nicolas Marin after eight minutes, Xavier Margairaz equalised for Zurich five minutes from the break, but the hosts regained the lead with goals from Goran Obradovic (42) and Alvaro Dominguez’s 55th minute penalty. Hannu Tihinen pulled a goal back for Zurich after 72 minutes to give them hope beforeJohan Vonlanthen scored an equalising penalty two minutes from time.

St. Gallen 1 – Bellinzona 1 (Swiss Super League, August 15, 2009) Bellinzona striker Mauro Lustrinelli put the visitors ahead after 56 minutes before Moreno Costanzo levelled matters eight minutes later.
