Chelsea 0 – Inter Milan 1 (Agg.1-3) (Champions League, March 16, 2010) Trailing 2-1 from their trip to the San Siro, Chelsea failed to make the breakthrough against Inter in the first half (highlights here) at Stamford Bridge. Inter came out on fire after the break with the visitors repeatedly threatening the Blues’ goal, and in the 78th minute they go their just deserves when Samuel Eto’o collected a wonderful pass through the middle and, after taking just one touch, he rifled a shot past Turbull. A terrible night for the Pensioners was compounded when Didier Drogba saw a straight red after being involved in a tussle with Thiago Motta.
Sevilla 1 – CSKA Moscow 2 (Agg. 2-3) (Champions League, March 16, 2010) (Longer highlights here.)Â 1-all after the first leg in Moscow, CSKA struck first in Spian when Tomas Necid applied a quality touch and finish in the Sevilla following a well-crafted throw-in. The Russians lead disappeared within minutes as a long hoof upfield wasn’t dealt with by the visiting defence and, after the ball ran into the box, Diego Perotti was well placed to tuck in the leveller. Andres Palop was left with a bucket of egg on his face early in the second half when the keeper failed to deal with a routine free-kick from distance from Keisuke Honda.
