Preston 2 – Ipswich 0 (Championship, January 30, 2010) On-loan Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck scored a sensational goal in the 2-0 victory over Ipswich as the 19-year-old struck with a delightful chip in the 84th minute after substitute Neill Collins had opened the scoring with a 64th-minute header at Deepdale.

West Brom 3 – Sheffield United 1 (Championship, January 30, 2010) Graeme Dorrans opened the scoring from the penalty spot, Roman Bednar made it 2-0 at the break. Another penalty from Darius Henderson pulled the Blades back into contention, 53 seconds later Jerome Thomas secured the match for the Baggies.

Sheffield Wednesday 2 – Plymouth 1 (Championship, January 30, 2010) Rory Fallon put Argyle ahead, but their lead lasted less than a minute as Luke Varney levelled. Varney was then the hero for the home side again as he fired home the winner just before the break.

Leeds 2 – Colchester 0 (League One, January 30, 2010) Jermaine Beckford opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 38th minute and wrapped up the points for Simon Grayson’s men with a second 10 minutes after the break.
