Portsmouth 0 – Chelsea 1 (FA Cup Final, May 15, 2010) (ITV extended highlights here.) A fascinating FA Cup final played out in the first half at Wembley as Chelsea struck the woodwork through Lampard, Terry and Drogba’s incredible free-kick that James saved, while Kalou missed an open goal from three yards out. But Portsmouth were far from bystanders, defying their underdog status by playing on the counter-attack with Piquionne forcing Cech into a point-blank save from four yards out in the south coasters best opportunity of the half. The other major talking point of the first 45 was an injury to Michael Ballack that will worry German fans ahead of the World Cup. (First half highlights here.) One of the greatest cup upsets looked on the cards when Belletti took out Dindane in the box nine minutes after the restart, but Kevin Prince Boateng fluffed his spot-kick and Cech saw the effort with his feet. It didn’t take long for Chelsea to punish wasteful Pompey as just two minutes later Didier Drogba smacked a brilliant free-kick from left to right that snuck inside James’s far post for the opener. Three minutes from time Lampard was chopped down in the box by Brown, but incredibly Frank Lampard dragged his spot-kick wide for the second missed penalty of the game.
