Manchester City 0 – Tottenham 1 (Premier League, May 5, 2010) (Longer highlights here.) Manchester City began stronger against Spurs in the opening stages in their fourth place showdown, but it was the north Londoners who had first reason to grumble after Ledley King was penalised after powering home a header from a corner. Spurs had keeper Gomes to thank for getting to the break on levelling footing after the Brazilian made several top class saves to deny City. (First half highlights here.) A pulsating second half played out at Eastlands, but after Spurs began to turn the screw they were rewarded nine minutes from time when Kaboul powered down the right hand side and fizzed in a cross that Fulop could only parry, and Peter Crouch was on hand to head a £60m goal to put Spurs on the brink of the Champions League.
Comical scenes played out during Harry Redknapp’s post match interview as David Bentley lead his teammates in drenching the Tottenham coach with a bucket of liquid. (A different angle can be seen here.)
Fulham 0 – Stoke 1 (Premier League, May 5, 2010) Matthew Etherington hammered a Ricardo Fuller cross past Mark Schwarzer to move the Potters up to 10th.
