Bringing back memories of his famous goal against Bradford (watch here), Paul Scholes broke his duck for the season with a replica goal against Fulham, however on this occasion Mark Schwarzer was culpable for failing to stop the tame drive from crossing the line. United’s second on the half hour reflected a side oozing with confidence, Carrick, Scholes and O’Shea all involved in the build up before Dimitar Berbatov tapped the ball home. In the second half Old Trafford saw the return of Wayne Rooney off the bench and the number 10’s first contribution was to score from Park’s shot-cum-cross.
Watford 2 – Swansea 0 (Championship, February 17, 2009) First half efforts from Tamas Priskin and Tommy Smith was enough to claim all three points for Brendan Rodgers’ men.
Hereford 2 – Leeds 0 (League One, February 17, 2009) Leeds should taken the lead, but Lee Trundle’s penalty was turned aside by Gulacsi and two minutes later Hereford were in front. Sam Hewson slipped the ball through to Jennison Myrie-Williams whose left-footed shot found the far bottom corner. Febian Brandy grabbed the second with a header early in the second half.
