Manchester United reserves 2 – Manchester City reserves 4 (Manchester Senior Cup, February 9, 2012) United scored after 17 minutes when a comedy a collision between City keeper Eirik Johansen and defender Reece Wabara gifted Jesse Lingard the opener. The Blues were level four minutes after the break when Harry Bunn scored at the second attempt after seeing his spot-kick – awarded for Michael Keane’s handling offence – saved by Tomasz Kuszczak. A terrific flowing move, on the hour, involving William Keane and Joshua King, concluded with Larnell Cole restoring United’s lead, but City were soon back on terms through substitute Gai Assulin. Five minutes later, and a thunderous long-range shot from Omar Elabdellaoui gave City the lead for the first time and then the Blues sealed victory in the last minute when Jordi Hiwula grabbed their fourth goal after taking Assulin’s pass.
