“He’s an enigma. You can look at what he does, the positives he brings and the way he encourages people to pay to come through the turnstiles, or you can look at the negatives. He can enjoy himself but, when he gets in his own half, he has to become disciplined. But he is gradually eliminating his negatives. He has done very well. He’s working as hard as he has ever worked in his life and we’ve got a happy medium.” – Neil Warnock on on-loan Spurs forward Adel Taarabt.
The arrival of Neil Warnock was not expected to signal an upturn in fortune for creative players such as Adel Taarabt at Loftus Road, but the Tottenham forward has impressed in recent weeks.
The on-loan Spurs trickster has started every game under Warnock and has now scored in successive games after claiming a penalty last week against Plymouth.
Taarabt claimed another goal on Saturday and will likely have secured a place in Warnock’s affections, as it came against his former club Sheffield United. Press speculation has compared Warnock’s affect on Taarabt to his guidance of Victor Moses at Crystal Palace.
There has been much speculation over Taarabt’s future since he moved on loan for the season but following the likes of Gareth Bale and Roman Pavlyuchenko, the Moroccan forward will be eager to play himself back into favour with Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp.
The goals from Sheffield United-QPR can be seen here, with Taarabt equalising with a calm finish following a lung bursting run.
