Rooney bags a hat-trick as Manchester United smash Seattle 7-0

Seattle Sounders 0 – Manchester United 7 (Pre-season friendly, July 20, 2011) Manchester United had just the one-goal lead for their efforts at half-time after Seattle had performed well on home turf. Michael Owen heading Sir Alex Ferguson’s side ahead from a Patrice Evra cross.

Early in the second half Manchester United went 2-0 up through Mame Biram Diouf who slotted home from a Nani chipped pass. And Wayne Rooney lashed in the third minutes later. On 69 it was 4-0 to the Premier League champions, Wayne Rooney bagging his second from an incisive pass by Ji-Sung Park. Almost immediately it was 5-0, Obertan and Rooney teeing up Ji-Sung Park to score. Three goals in three minutes came with more good work for Obertan, allowing Wayne Rooney to complete his hat-trick. Gabriel Obertan bagged the seventh late on.
