After the break Pompey equalised with a fabulous 25-yards strike from Peter Crouch.
Everton 2 – Aston Villa 3 (Premier League, December 7, 2008) It took Steve Sidwell just 33.4 seconds to find the net for Aston Villa with a fine 20-yard shot that rocketed into the net. But on the half hour mark Everton levelled as Joleon Lescott turned home Arteta’s free-kick. In the second half Everton threw away a goal as Phil Jagielka has a moment of complete madness, passing the ball straight into Ashley Young’s path and the number 7 easily beat Tim Howard to regain the lead for the visitors. The home crowd were sent wild in the 91st minute as Joleon Lescott turned in his second of the game to seemingly earn Everton a point, only for Villa to head immediately up the other end to find their own late late winner through Ashley Young.
Tranmere 2 – Leeds 1 (League One, December 6, 2008) Despite taking the lead through Enoch Showunmi, Leeds let theÂ lead to slip through their fingers as strikes from Antony Kay and Ian Moore secured victory for Tranmere.
