Man United win at Northampton

Manchester United returned to winning ways after three defeats in a week but it wasn’t the easiest of nights for Jose Mourinho and his side against the League One side.

Michael Carrick, recalled to the first team, scored the opener with a fine strike into the far corner on 17 minutes.

Northampton went into the break level thanks to a penalty scored by Alex Revell.

Daley Blind gave away the goal, which will not help his cause to re-establish himself in Jose Mourinho’s first team.

Herrera & Rashford secure the win

Ten minutes into the second half, Jose Mourinho threw on Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcus Rashford and the pair made a big difference to the Manchester United attack.

Rashford teed up Herrera for a cracking goal on 68 minutes and then the England youngster bagged the third on 75 following some slapstick goalkeeping by Northampton goalkeeper Andy Smith.

Manchester United will play Manchester City in the next round of the EFL Cup!
