Leicester go through
Leicester City’s fairytale is far from finished after they managed to shock Sevilla with a 3-2 aggregate win in the Champions League last 16. Overturning a 2-1 deficit, the underdogs are now in the quarter-finals.
It was another incident-packed edition of Europe’s premier club competition. UEFA must be pinching themselves at the box office quality on show in this round. Here, once again, we had a red card and a missed penalty.
Drama at its finest. Samir Nasri was given his marching orders after being conned by Jamie Vardy.
That bit of playacting was Vardy’s biggest contribution to the Leicester cause. He missed several big chances to put the game beyond Sevilla but wasted his efforts. One was ballooned over the bar, another dragged wide.
For his sins, Vardy punched himself in the face. Nasri would have done that for him, had he let him.
Wes Morgan and Marc Albrighton got the goals but Kasper Schmeichel was the man of the match.
