Both Ronaldo & Higuain are at the double as Real Madrid ease past Getafe; Medel the hero as Boca win the SuperClasico

Getafe 2 – Real Madrid 4 (La Liga, March 25, 2010) (Longer highlights here.) It took Real Madrid just thirteen minutes to break the deadlock at Getafe. Cristiano Ronaldo curled home a picture perfect free kick for the opener. Seven minutes later Gonzalo Higuain doubled the lead with a simple left-footed finish. Three minutes later and Higuain claimed the third after rounding the keeper. The fourth came from Cristiano Ronaldo and after Higuain had been clinical, the Portuguese forward was once again spectacular, lashing home from a tight angle. Getafe pulled one back a minute after Real Madrid’s fourth, Daniel Parejo looked like he fouled Casillas in the build-up but the goal stood. Pedro Leon further reduced the arrears with ten minutes to go.

Atletico Madrid 2 – Atletic Bilbao 0 (La Liga, March 25, 2010) The South American double act of Diego Forlan and Sergio Kun Aguero swept the home side back to winning ways with second half goals.

Napoli 3 – Juventus 1 (Serie A, March 25, 2010) Giorgio Chiellini headed Juventus into the lead in the seventh minute at Napoli. Three minutes after missing a penalty Marek Hamsik equalised with a header at the back post and further goals from Fabio Quagliarella and Ezequiel Lavezzi sealed the win for Napoli.

Go Ahead Eagles 0 – Ajax 6 (Dutch Cup, March 25, 2010) Demy de Zeuw side-footed Ajax into an 11th minute lead over Go Ahead Eagles. Seven minutes before the break Marko Pantelic fired in the second. Siem de Jong scored the third on 75 with a driving run from deep, Danish wonderkid Christian Eriksen claimed the fourth on 77 and Dennis Rommedahl the fifth on 78. Uruguayan winger Nicolas Lodeiro added a sixth from a free kick on 85.

Gent 1 – KV Mechelen 0 (Agg. 3-2) (Beker van Belgie, March 25, 2010) Elimane Coulibaly scored what turned out to be the only goal in the 38th minute, before the hosts went a man down in the second half as Adnan Custovic collected his second yellow card in the 65th minute.

The Chile midfielder stabbed home a Riquelme free-kick for the opener on 13 minutes. Medel then fired home the second three minutes into the second half. A match winning display from the Chilen pitbull was tarnished when he was sent off on 75 for a second bookable offence that came after a spat with Gallardo.

Velez Sarsfield 2 – Colo Colo 1 (Copa Libertadores, March 25, 2010) Ezequiel Miralles put Colo Colo ahead following a flowing move but goals from Macnelly Torres and Santiago Silva sealed the win for Velez.

Racing 1 – Independiente Medellin 0 (Copa Libertadores, March 25, 2010) Santiago Ostolaza grabbed the winner on 75 minutes to put Racing level on points with Corinthians.

Dep Quito 1 – Emelec 0 (Copa Libertadores, March 25, 2010) Michael Arroy scored the only goal to give Quito some hope of progressing to the knockout rounds.
