Newell’s Old Boys 2 – Arsenal 1 (Apertura, October 27, 2012) Ignacio Scocco was the hero scoring both goals inside the first half an hour, with Carlos Carbonero’s 75th minute consolation breathing life back into the contest late on. Their chances of getting back into the game were helped when Newell’s Gabrielle Heinze was sent off but Newell’s held on to record the win.

Velez Sarsfield 1 – Racing Club 0 (Apertura, October 27, 2012) Lucas Pratto was the man for Velez getting the only goal of the game.
