It has been an incredible season and the list below reflects the quality of football played across the globe over the past 12 months.
From a website perspective, 101 Great Goals has seen enormous growth during the 2011/2012 campaign and we are indebted to you.
Whether it be through Twitter, Facebook, emails, comments or by likes, referrals and retweets, the constant love and feedback we have received over the years has been the driving force in keeping 101 Great Goals alive.
We look forward to serving you with the best football video content online this summer and beyond, and will continue the good fight in making 101 Great Goals the best independent football website on the world wide web.
Now on to the list… It is in chronological order and is based on our weekly top goals list as well as a fair few “brilliant goals you won’t have seen.”
There is not currently a video with all the goals in one place, if there is someone out there willing to take on the task we would be eternally grateful and said montage would receive pride of place on 101 Great Goals.
At the very bottom is a poll, which will allow us to whittle down the top 10 goals and then crown the goal of the season in the coming days.

We start with an announcement.
The end of the 2011-12 football season is upon us… so it’s time for the famous 101 Greatest Goals of the Season list! The list will come out later this week, so make sure to check in for the most-comprehensive golazo compilation on the planet.
(Note: If you’re a video capper and can help put all 101 goals onto one video, please contact us immediately at 101greatgoals at gmail dot com.)
The mass of football matches may be dwindling, but the quality remains lazar-sharp.
AÂ magnificent volley from the MLS starts the ball rolling, followed by Radamel Falcao’s first acrobatic entry of the week during Atletico Madrid’s summer tour of Colombia.
The acrobatics remain on show with a terrific overhead-volley from Austria, goal four keeps it going with an amazing angled bicycle-kick from Argentina, while Radamel Falcao swooped back to the limelight with one of the greatest scissor-kicks (ever?) at spot five.
Six offers a wonderful free-kick from River Plate, seven is another scissors-kick from America, while eight provides a ridiculous volley you won’t have seen from Vietnam.
That leaves two: Joselu’s fantastic backheel golazo for Real Madrid B, and a world-class flick-roll-and-finish from a classy Boca Juniors centre-forward.
You know the drill. Voting is below. Enjoy.

It’s an absolute rip roaring selection of golazos this week.
Radamel Falcao’s opener in the Europa League final gets things going, swiftly followed by a classy back heel from “The Goose.”
Next up is a goal of the season contender from Japan and some classy footwork by Franck Ribery. With a great goal you won’t have seen from Brazil at 5.
Then its off to America for a trademark David Beckham free-kick and there are two more MLS goals from the weekend. A belter by Lee Nguyen against his former club and that rarest of species: a headed goal from outside the box by Sebastian Miranda.
The list closes out with the most important Premier League goal ever (which wasn’t included for its aesthetic beauty, although it was a fine run) and a genius dinked finish from everyone’s favourite veteran Udinese striker.
Vote below. Accuse 101gg of bias towards [insert team/player here] in the comments. Cheers!

Recovered yet?
A full-on, heavy-duty week of cut-throat football has come to a close, and what we’re left with are another ten unbelievable golazos from across planet earth.
A top corner pile-driver from Tottenham’s Croatian playmaker gets this week’s list started, while the amazing reverse banana-kick goal that will likely be labelled the EPL’s goal of the season rocks up at number two.
Heading to North America we located at 35-yard thunderbolt at spot three, an incredible 50-yard solo dash-and-finish is at four, and number five supplies our first acrobatic effort of the week all the way from Malaysia.
Spot six continues the acrobatics with an overhead blinder from Russia, while Parma’s Atomic Ant blasted home a 30-yard pearler at number seven.
That leaves three: an amazing overhead-kick from Brazil is followed up by another jaw-dropping bicicleta from Argentina, while the top ten finishes with the long-ranger which finally ended the Rossoneri’s Scudetto’s dreams.

Let’s get straight to it.
Frank Lampard’s exquisite pass at the Nou Camp lead to the first goal in our top ten, and Europe’s premier cup competitions churned out a second fabulous strike on Thursday night as the Rojiblancos booked their place in the Europa League final.
Wigan’s fourth goal in their rout of Newcastle occupies spot three on our list, whilst we stay in the Premier League at number four where we find another goal of the season contender from Liverpool.
As we reach the halfway point in our top ten we find a scissors-kick from Argentina and an MLS goal straight from a corner, and the freak golazos continue at number seven with the goal of the weekend from Scandinavia.
That leaves three: a picture-perfect free-kick from White Hart Lane at eight, Lionel Messi turns provider at number nine, and finally an exquisite team move and finish from the Clasico in Chile from Sunday night.

As the season enters it’s final weeks for most fans around the planet, the quality of golazos shows no signs of abating.
This week acrobatics are in vogue with four overhead/scissor-kicks occupying our top ten.
The chilenas start with goal number one from the start of the week in Spain, which is followed by a ridiculously good 68-yard golazo from the English second tier.
Staying in European lower leagues we find an amazing opportunist backheel-flick from Spain at three, at four is a Playstation give-go-give-go golazo from Qatar, and then another tremendous bicycle-kick from the Copa Argentina appears at five.
Our solo special of the week takes its position at six, the curler of the week from the Premier League sits at seven, while an on-loan Arsenal striker reminds the Emirates of his abilities with yet another overhead-kick at eight.
That leaves two: possibly the goal of the season in Scandinavia rocks up at number nine, while we end off with our final overhead-kick of the week all the way from Uruguay.
Sit back and enjoy the golazo fest and don’t forget to vote in our poll below.
1. Alvaro Negredo (Getafe v Sevilla, April 16, 2012)

After postponing last week’s vote by one day due to the Bank Holiday Premier League action, we are left with just six days of packed football action to whittle down our top 10 goals list.
The quality of the list below is pretty frightening, aided by some midweek stunners which now feel like some time ago.
Lionel Messi, with the assistance of Andres Iniesta kicks things off, followed by a howitzer of a free-kick from the Copa Libertadores.
Messi’s nemesis is up next as Cristiano Ronaldo chips in with two stunners in the Madrid derby.
Linking nicely (ish) into the fifth goal is Rory Fallon’s wonder strike at Hampden Park which has been compared to Zinedine Zidane’s famous volley at the home of Scottish football.
Next come a couple of dark horses to win our top goal of the past six days, Ricardo Vaz Te produced a quality acrobatic effort as he continues to bang in the goals at Upton Park and Jozy Altidore claimed his own screamer in a big match in Holland.
Finally, we end with three stunners. David Beckham’s wonder goal. Didier Drogba’s monster finish in the FA Cup semi-final and Paulo Henrique Ganso’s inch-perfect chip for Santos.
1. Lionel Messi (Barcelona v Getafe, April 10, 2012)
2. Dorlan Pabon (Atletico Nacional v Penarol, April 10, 2012)
3. Cristiano Ronaldo (first goal, free-kick) (Atletico Madrid v Real Madrid, April 11, 2012)

Due to a busy day of Premier League action on Monday, we held back our top goals of the week back from its usual Monday afternoon slot.
We were rewarded with one of the goals of the season by Hatem Ben Arfa, following a weekend which had seen a stunning scissors kick by Xherdan Shaqiri and a fantastic bicycle kick effort from Stefano Mauri.
So, the Champions League goals by Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo feel like they occurred an age ago in football terms but are no less pleasing on the eye. As is Marek Sokolowski’s incredible effort in the Polish Ekstraklasa.
Friday night featured two excellent lobs from the in-form Papiss Demba Cisse and Chris Forrester in Ireland.
Completing the list is Clint Dempsey’s picture-perfect free-kick for Fulham at Bolton and a cheeky back heel from the best female footballer on the planet.
Sit back and enjoy the golazo fest and don’t forget to vote in our poll below.
1. Kaka (Real Madrid v APOEL, April 4, 2012)
2. Cristiano Ronaldo (2) (Real Madrid v APOEL, April 4, 2012)

Welcome to another edition of the top goals of the week.
A wonderful overhead-kick from Russia gets the list off to a flyer, followed by a solo special from everyone’s favourite gatecrashing Italian and a terrific 30-yard bullet from Turkey comes in at spot three.
Real Madrid invade the party with (what will likely become) two of their most memorable golazos of the season at positions four and five.
Following the Los Blancos blockbusters, we head to the second division in Argentina to unearth a but magnifique from a seasoned French forward. Staying in the Americas, goal seven serves up a brilliant solo run and net-busting finish from Mexico.
That leaves three: a special scissors-kick from the lower divisions in Germany, the goal of the weekend in Serie A complete with multiple step-overs and a far corner finish, and lastly a Brazilian solo cracker from one of the great Samba hopes of the future.

Welcome back to the latest top 10 ten goals of the week list, and once again we’re jam-packed with golazos.
Juventus beat AC Milan to reach the Coppa Italia final in scintillating extra-time fashion with goal one, whilst Liverpool fans were screaming Goal of the Season! at Loftus Road when their other Uruguayan squad member opened his Reds’ account in jaw-dropping fashion last Wednesday.
A little known Argentinean left-back demanded attention with an opportunist lob from distance at number three, while another lessor name from Romania made the headlines with a textbook overhead-volley at position four.
The halfway point in the list is occupied by two crackers from the Premier League on Saturday: a thunderous free-kick from the Emirates, while it was Rule Britannia later that evening as Stoke’s beanpole striker posted his goal of the season contender.
Two dazzling acrobatic golazos from players you’ll likely have never heard of roll up one after another at seven and eight, number nine sees a rare moment of joy for Rangers during the Old Firm derby on Sunday, while we close out our list with a sumptuous volley from one of Japanese football’s brightest stars.
If you think we’ve missed a goal please let us know in the comments below, whilst voting for your favourite can be made at the bottom of this post.
Aside from that, just sit back & enjoy!
