Hernan Barcos scored both goals, on 49 and 84, to give the side from Ecuador the advantage. The first was a deflected the effort, the second a well worked move and a near post finish.

Vasco 1 – Univ. Chile 1 (Copa Sudamericana semi-final first leg, November 23, 2011) (Alternative highlights.) Bernardo fired Vasco ahead just after the half hour but a clever flicked header by Osvaldo Gonzalez on 79 minutes left things all square after 90 minutes.

Libertad 1 – LDU de Quito 0* (Agg. 1-1) (Copa Sudamericana quarter-finals second-leg, November 17, 2011) Pablo Velazquez headed home Libertad’s goal, and equaliser in the tie in the 90th minute. LDU de Quito keeper Alexander Dominguez was the hero in the penalty shoot-out with two key stops.

Univ de Chile 3 – Arsenal 0 (5-1) (Copa Sudamericana quarter-finals second-leg, November 17, 2011) Eduardo Vargas, Francisco Castro and Gustavo Canales scored for the home side.

Velez Sarsfield 3 – Santa Fe 2 (Agg. 4-3) (Copa Sudamericana, November 10, 2011) Guillermo Franco scored an early brace for Velez. After the break Santa Fe staged a fightback with goals from Jonathan Copete and Omar Perez (penalty) but another pen from Juan Martinez sealed Velez’s progression late on.

Vasco da Gama 5 – Universitario 2 (Agg. 5-4) (Copa Sudamericana, November 9, 2011) (Longer highlights.) Two goals down from the first leg, Vasco looked dead and buried despite Diego Souza scoring the opener from the penalty spot when Manuel Ruidiaz and Jesus Rabanal scored either side of half time for the Peruvians. On 46 both teams went down to 10 men, Souza and Rabanel sent off and just after the hour Universitario were reduced to 9 men as Antonio Gonzalez received his marching orders. Goals from Elton, Dede (2) and Alecsandro sent Vasco into the semi-finals.

Arsenal Sarandi 1 – Universidad de Chile 2 (Copa Sudamericana quarter-final first leg, November 3, 2011) Eduardo Vargas put Universidad ahead just before half-time but Juan Caffa crossed for Mauro Obolo to equalise shortly after the restart. Gustavo Canales was fouled in the box 10 minutes from time and took the penalty himself, converting to give Universidad de Chile a victory which extends their unbeaten run to 23 matches.

LDU de Quito 1 – Libertad 0 (Copa Sudamericana quarter-final first leg, November 3, 2011) An 89th minute goal from Luis Bolanos gave LDU a narrow advantage to carry into the second leg.

Universitario Peru 2 – Vasco 0 (Copa Sudamericana quarter-final first leg, November 2, 2011) Raul Ruidiaz opened the scoring with a 35th minute penalty, while Johan Fano bagged a second just before the hour.
