Zenit St Petersburg 2 – Iraq 1 (Friendly, January 20, 2012) The Lions of Mesopotamia fell behind in the ninth minute as a long ball reached Zenit forward Aleksandr Bukharov who controlled, beat his marker, and drilled a shot into the near post. The Iraqis levelled on the hour through striker Emad Mohammed after the Russian lost the ball in defence, but 15 minutes from time Aleksandr Kerzhakov lobbed in the winner for Zenit.

Zenit 2 – Bunyodkor 1 (Dubai Cup, January 18, 2012) Goals from Szabolcs Huszti and Danko Lazovic eased Zenit to the win. Danny should have made it 3-0 but he was guilty of a rubbish miss. Bunyodkor pulled one back late on.
