Stuttgart 0 – Bayern Munich 2 (DFB Pokal, February 8, 2012) A tidy finish from Franck Ribery in the first half put Bayern 1-up in Stuttgart. Mario Gomez added a second for Munich immediately after the restart.

Hertha Berlin 0 – Borussia Monchengladbach 2 (AET) (DFB Pokal, February 8, 2012) Neither side were able to decide the tie in 90 minutes, but in the additional 30 minutes Filip Daems put his side ahead from the spot, before Oscar Wendt ensured the victory with the last kick of the match.

Hoffenheim 0 – Greuther Furth 1 (DFB Pokal, February 8, 2012) Second-division Greuther Fuerth stunned 10-man Hoffenheim as the visitors snatched the winner eight minutes later with Canadian Olivier Occean’s left-footed effort.

DFB Pokal: Dortmund reach the semis of the cup crushing Holstein Kiel 4-0

Holstein Kiel 0 – Borussia Dortmund 4 (DFB Pokal, February 7, 2012) Dortmund’s superiority was asserted in the 11th minute when Robert Lewandowski put the visitors ahead, and Holstein Kiel were starring down the barrel just seven minutes later as Shinji Kawaga powered home a Piszczek cut-back. Lucas Barrios scored his second goal in as many games to kill the contest in the second half, whilst Ivan Perisic cashed in with a fourth in the 87th.

Freiburg battle back for Bremen draw; Cologne win at 10-man Kaiserslautern

Freiburg 2 – Werder Bremen 2 (Bundesliga, February 5, 2012) Claudio Pizarro gave Bremen the lead in each half but Freiburg found a way back on each occasion, first through Cedrick Makiadi and then Jonathan Schmid in the 70th minute.

Kaiserslautern 0 – Cologne 1 (Bundesliga, February 5, 2012) The hosts had Ariel Borysiuk sent off in the 40th minute, and the eleven men of Cologne capitalised in the 72nd minute through Odise Roshi’s header.

Mainz halt the Schalke title charge; Gladbach fall of the pace at Wolfsburg

Schalke 1 – Mainz 1 (Bundesliga, February 4, 2012) Mohamed Zidan had put Mainz into a shock lead on 15. Chinedu Obasi equalised for Schalke with a jinking run and finish just before the hour mark.

Bayer Leverkusen 2 – Stuttgart 2 (Bundesliga, February 4, 2012) The hosts twice took the lead, firstly through Stefan Kiessling on 11 minutes and again two minutes after half-time through Simon Rolfes’ penalty after Julian Schieber had levelled for Stuttgart. Michal Kadlec was then sent off on 63 minutes for Leverkusen before Stuttgart equalised with a minute to go through Martin Harnik and then had Cristian Molinaro sent off in injury time.

Hoffenheim 2 – Augsburg 2 (Bundesliga, February 4, 2012) Augsburg remain in the bottom two, but produced a creditable performance in fighting back to draw 2-2 away with Hoffenheim. The visitors took the lead through Sascha Molders, but an own goal from Peniel Kokou Mlapa and Sejad Salihovic penalty put Hoffenheim in the ascendancy. Sebastian Langkamp drew Augsburg level on 72 minutes and, five minutes later, Augsburg were denied victory when Molders struck the crossbar.

Hertha Berlin 0 – Hannover 1 (Bundesliga, February 4, 2012) Mohammed Abdellaoue’s goal midway through the second half earned Hannover a 1-0 win at Hertha, who had Sebastian Neumann dismissed with 15 minutes to go.

Wolfsburg 0 – Borussia Monchengladbach 0 (Bundesliga, February 4, 2012) Gladbach are now three points adrift of the summit following a 0-0 draw away to another side in mid-table Wolfsburg.

Dortmund retake the Bundesliga top spot winning 2-nil at Nurnberg

Nurnberg 0 – Borussia Dortmund 2 (Bundesliga, February 3, 2012) Nurnberg defender Timmy Simons thought he’d headed the hosts ahead in the 10th minute from a corner but Shinji Kagawa made a smart headed clearance on the line. Dortmund took the lead at the start of the second half as Leitner through-ball was followed by a Piszczek cutback that was converted by Sebastian Kehl. Dortmund wrapped up the win eight minutes from time when Lucas Barrios, days after it was thought he was leaving the club, netted his first goal of the season.

Marco “Rolls” Reus stars again (!) as Gladbach spank Stuttgart to move within a point of the leaders

Stuttgart 0 – Monchengladbach 3 (Bundesliga, January 29, 2012) A Mike Hanke header from a 31st minute free-kick gave Gladbach the lead from a Marco Reus free-kick. Nine minutes from time the visitors sowed up the points when Marco Reus (how fantastic is this kid!) grabbed a second. Four minutes from time Igor de Camargo claimed a third to kill off Stuttgart.

Mainz scored three in the opening 17 minutes to kill off Freiburg

January 29th, 2012

Mainz 3 – Freiburg 1 (Bundesliga, January 29, 2012) Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting put the home side ahead in the third minute and three minutes later Eugen Polanski doubled Mainz’s lead from the penalty spot in an incident that also saw Freiburg defender Fallou Diagne was sent off. Choupo-Moting netted his second and Mainz’s third 11 minutes later as the hosts looked on course to record a huge win, but they were unable to add to the scoreline after that and bottom club Freiburg managed to pull a goal back through Pavel Krmas in the 68th minute.

Schalke stink of a title challenge after 4-1 win at Cologne

Cologne 1 – Schalke 4 (Bundesliga, January 28, 2012) Lukas Podloski had put the home side in front on 4 minutes but second half goals from Ciprian Marica (2), Klaas Jan Huntelaar (penalty) and Marco Hoger kept Schalke level on points with Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.
