Match of the season contender as Bordeaux beat Lille 5-4 away

Lille 4 – Bordeaux 5 (Ligue 1, February 12, 2012) Bordeaux got off to a rip-roaring start as Nicolas Maurice-Belay netted after just two minutes. The fast start continued as David Rozehnal levelled for Lille in the 8th, but by the 17th the visitors had reasserted their lead as Ludovic Obraniak added number two. (First half goals) The contest seemed over when Nicolas Maurice-Belay and Yoan Gouffran extended Bordeaux’s lead to 4 – 1 by the hour, but Lille had other ideas. Eden Hazard reduced the deficit in the 65th, whilst the hosts pulled the match to 3-4 when Mathieu Debuchy netted with 15 minutes remaining. A pulsating match was concluded in injury time as attacker Nolan Roux levelled the match 4-4 to complete a stunning comeback. Amazingly there was still time for a late twist as deep into injury time Ludovic Obraniak grabbed his second of the game to earn Bordeauxa 5-4 away win.

PSG draw a blank at Nice

Nice 0 – PSG 0 (Ligue 1, February 12, 2012) The visitors created the better of chances during the first half, but Kevin Gameiro in particular was wasteful in front of goal.

Montpellier take over top spot in Ligue 1; Caen can at Lyon

Montpellier 3 – Ajaccio 0 (Ligue 1, February 11, 2012) Younes Belhamda broke the deadlock on 53 minutes and goals within the space of three minutes from Remy Cabella and Olivier Giroud put the game beyond Ajaccio’s reach.

Lyon 1 – Caen 2 (Ligue 1, February 11, 2012) Romain Hamouma and Livio Nabab scored the goals for Caen, while Lisandro Lopez scored an 86th minute consolation from the penalty spot for Lyon.

Valenciennes 1 – Nancy 0 (Ligue 1, February 11, 2012) Substitute Mamadou Samassa also scored in the second minute of stoppage-time as Valenciennes battled for a 1-0 home win over Nancy.

Auxerre 1 – Lorient 1 (Ligue 1, February 11, 2012) Willy Boly’s goal gave Auxerre an 18th minute lead and, three minutes later, Lorient had goalkeeper Fabien Audard sent off for deliberate handball.  However, with Auxerre seemingly hanging on for three points, Innocent Emeghara snatched a point for the visitors with an equaliser in the second minute of stoppage-time.

Rennes 1 – Sochaux 0 (Ligue 1, February 11, 2012) Rennes remain in the battle for a Champions League spot after a battling 1-0 home win over bottom club Sochaux. Recent signing Mevlut Erding scored the only goal on 16 minutes, while Rennes came close to a second when Vincent Pajot struck the crossbar.

Lyon need extra time to sink Bordeaux in the cup; Valenciennes KO Lille

Lyon 3 – Bordeaux 1 (AET) (Coupe de France, February 8, 2012) A poor error in the Lyon backline allowed Jussie to race clear and score midway through the first half, but Bordeaux’s defence was breached in the 35th minute by a Alexandre Lacazette finish after a period of pressure from the hosts. The match when into extra time where OL sub Bafetimbi Gomis netted his fifth goal in five consecutive matches to fire the hosts ahead. In the 118th minute Lisandro Lopez teed up Jimmy Briand to tap home Lyon’s third goal and seal their place in the quarter-finals.

Valenciennes 2 – Lille 1 (Coupe de France, February 8, 2012) Matthieu Dossevi broke the deadlock with a header in the 71st minute, while Vincent Aboubakar chalked up a quick-fire second to kill off Lille. Nolan Roux netted a consolation from Lille two minutes from time.

Rennes edge Evian in a 5-goal thriller to reach the Coupe de France quarters

Rennes 3 – Evian 2 (Coupe de France, February 7, 2012) Rennes took the lead after 21 minutes when Jires Kembo took a free-kick from the left and bent the ball into the net. The home side seemed set for an easy win when Julien Feret and Yacine Brahimi both netted from outside the box in the 54th and 68th minutes. Evian hit back with a Kevin Berigaud penalty and a Sidney Govou goal five minutes later. They could have forced the match into extra time but a Cedric Barbosa shot struck the woodwork with two minutes to go.

Lyon draw 2-2 at Marseille

Marseille 2 – Lyon 2 (Ligue 1, February 5, 2012) Benoit Cheyrou and Brandao had put OM 2-0 up by the 34th minute. Lyon hit back before the break through Bafetimbi Gomis and an og from Souleymane Diawara.

Ancelotti’s winning run continues as PSG slip past Evian 3-1; Montpellier stay in the hunt

PSG 3 – Evian 1 (Ligue 1, February 4, 2012) Cedric Cambon had given Evian the lead on the stroke of half-time, but the advantage lasted barely two minutes before Nene levelled early in the second half. Nene put PSG ahead from the penalty spot on 79 minutes before Kevin Gameiro made certain of the points with a third goal a minute from time.

Montpellier 1 – Brest 0 (Ligue 1, February 4, 2012) Montpellier remain three points adrift of PSG following a hard-fought 1-0 success at home over mid-table Brest. Geoffrey Dernis scored the decisive goal four minutes before half-time and Brest finished the match with 10 men after Abdoul Sissoko was sent off in stoppage-time.

Dijon 1 – Valenciennes 2 (Ligue 1, February 4, 2012) Valenciennes gave their survival hopes a shot in the arm after hanging on for a 2-1 triumph away to Dijon. Renaud Cohade and Gael Danic scored at the start, and end, of the first half respectively for Valenciennes before Dijon replied with a 92nd minute consolation from substitute Gregory Thil.

Ajaccio 1 – Nice 1 (Ligue 1, February 4, 2012) Eduardo’s 57th minute goal appeared set to hand Ajaccio the points until substitute Esmael Goncalves popped up with five minutes to go for Nice.

Bordeaux 2 – Toulouse 0 (Ligue 1, February 4, 2012) Bordeaux enjoyed a 2-0 home victory over Toulouse, with Jussi scoring inside the opening minute for Les Girondins. Ludovic Obraniak added a second five minutes before half-time and Toulouse were also reduced to 10 men prior to the interval after Moussa Sissoko was sent off for two bookable offences.

Nancy 0 – Rennes 0 (Ligue 1, February 4, 2012)

St Etienne 0 – Lorient 0 (Ligue 1, February 4, 2012) The match was suspended for a frozen pitch.

Marseille set up a League Cup final date against Lyon

Marseille 2 – Nice 1 (Coupe de la Ligue, February 1, 2012) Loic Remy and strike partner Brandao scored Marseille’s goals at Stade Velodrome, either side of Anthony Mounier’s equaliser late in the first half. Marseille had winger Mathieu Valbuena sent off in the second half, and Nice forward Franck Dja Djedje was also shown a red card late on by referee Clement Turpin.

2-0 down with 10 minutes to go, Lyon beat Lorient 4-2 to reach the Coupe de la Ligue final

Lorient 2 – Lyon 4 AET (Coupe de la Ligue, January 31, 2012) Second half goals from Innocent Emeghara and Kevin Monnet-Paquet had put Lorient 2-0 up on 68. Alexandre Lacazette pulled one back with 10 minutes to go and Jimmy Briand sent the match to extra time on 93. Bafetimbi Gomis put OL ahead on 102 and another from Lacazette late on sealed the win.
