It may only have been Viktoria Plzen, but three second half goals eased Manchester City to a big win in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
After successive difficult campaigns in Europe’s premier competition, Manuel Pellegrini has got off to a win and at least second place in Group D looks eminently possible.
Yaya Toure and Fernandinho dominated the midfield to a huge degree and after Edin Dzeko’s early second half goal, Toure all but wrapped things up, eight minutes after the break with a glorious curler.
Although perhaps now playing slightly deeper under Pellegrini as compared to his time with Roberto Mancini, Yaya Toure has already scored three goals this season.
