Two of Tottenham’s most talked-up prospects have recently found themselves farmed out on loan to the Championship with Harry Redknapp allowing QPR to borrow the services of Adel Taarabt while Ipswich have managed to swoop for Mexican hotshot Giovani Dos Santos.
That both players have been granted permission to leave the Lane at this stage of the season seems to suggest that the exit door may not been too far behind. Both Taarabt and Dos Santos joined the North Londoners as the new big things, hugely creative and dynamic midfield talents, but for one reason or another neither have managed to hold down a first team place for any length of time and pastures new may be needed to avoid stagnation in the reserves.
Moroccan Taarabt made his Rangers debut at the weekend against Southampton, and arguably played up to many of the negative stereotypes with which he is labelled, showing fancy footwork but little end product in the goalless draw.

For Giovani, a player who scored a hat-trick for Barcelona last season, his new beginning in East Anglia has already borne tangible success, the youngster claiming the equaliser in last night’s draw on his home debut against Burnley with a low shot from outside the box.
