Liverpool’s shocking season appears to be affecting the mindset of Spanish striker Fernando Torres. In recent weeks El Nino has started to show increasing signs of petulance both on and off the pitch.
Last week Torres called for Rafa Benitez and the Liverpool board to splash the cash and there are indications that not all is well for the former Atletico Madrid striker at Anfield.
In one of the most bizarre incidents of the season to date, Fernando Torres tried to put Wayne Rooney off ahead of his equalising penalty in Manchester United’s 2-1 win this afternoon by kicking the turf around the penalty spot.
Little has been made of this by Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson or by Rafa Benitez in the post match interviews and Torres was not booked for this incident.
The Liverpool striker did though receive a yellow card later in the match – his fifth in the last seven games.
The frankly strange behaviour from Torres prior to Manchester United’s equaliser can be seen on this video.
