West Ham boss Sam Allardyce dismisses criticism: ‘Possessions stats make me laugh, it’s a results business’
On the football style curve, Sam Allardyce would be plotted in the ‘low possession, long ball’ quadrant.
The West Ham boss has never made any apologies for playing a pragmatic, result-first style-second game, and while he’s doing a decent job in table terms at West Ham, a section of Hammers fans are growing restless, and want to see some tippy-tappy football for their match tickets.
Allardyce couldn’t care less though, saying that possession stats make him laugh, and that the criticism only stems from results; when they win nobody complains.
Allardyce makes his philosophy clear: ‘It’s a results driven business’.
