Wenger Protest? The Emirates looks half empty for Arsenal West Brom [Tweets]

Just like at Old Trafford tonight, The Emirates is particularly quiet tonight, and it’s nothing to do with the acoustics.

Rather, it’s because just as with Manchester United’s game against Crystal Palace last night, the stadium is nowhere near full, despite what the official attendance may be (although the ‘half empty’ speculation is clearly a huge exaggeration).

That number has been tentatively reported at around 59,000, which is just shy of the 60,432 capacity, but the official figure refers to tickets sold – not the actual bums on seats.

So what’s going on here? Is it a boycott protest against Arsene Wenger?

It should be noted that there were problems on the London Tube, which could have resulted in fans getting in late.

In any case, it hasn’t affected the team’s performance too negatively: it took them just 6 minutes to break the deadlock, Alexis Sanchez scoring from outside the box.
