Wigan were left fuming this week after their 3-1 loss at Tottenham.
Aside from recording yet another result that left them fighting for Premier League survival, the Latics were left aggreived that Spurs left-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto stayed on the pitch after a terrible tackle on Franco Di Santo.
The incident arrive in the final stages of the match.
With Assou-Ekotto put under pressure to clear his lines in his left-back position, the Frenchman-with-the-afro delivered an shin-splitting stamp on Di Santo that immediately forced the Argentinean off injured.
Despite the linesman and referee Probert appearing to have a great view of the incident, Assou-Ekotto failed to received as much as a booking for the foul. Moreover, it has since been confirmed by the FA that ref Probert had seen the incident, and thus the defender will face no further sanction on the basis of video evidence.
On Thursday, Franco Di Santo posted a picture of his shin on his Facebook page. The gruesome picture can be seen below the fold.
