You’ve got to love (or is that hate) Arsene Wenger sometimes.
Weeks after the Emirates sang out a chorus of boos against the Professor, and after years of everyone saying that the North Londoners need to sign better players, Wenger used the final moments of the January transfer window to pen a 19-year-old nobody from Germany.
At least the Arsenal boss cannot be accused of inconsistency.
The Gunners’ capture of Thomas Eisfeld from Borussia Dortmund represented an archetype acquisition during the Wenger years. Eisfeld, a teenager with big potential but limited high profile experience, is not someone whom Arsenal fans can expect to see in the first team any time soon.
Will Eisfeld be the new Amaury Bischoff?
Right now it’s far too early to come to any conclusions about the young German midfielder. There is only a limited amount of video evidence circling of Eisfeld in action (see here), whilst on Tuesday the newest Gunner sat down with Arsenal TV to introduce himself to his new club.
