The future’s bright for Manchester United. The future is Norwegian.
On Thursday night in the Barclays Premier Reserve League, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s charges took on the young Black Cats, with the next generation of Old Trafford stars sparkling in front of the MUTV cameras.
By halftime the match was over, with United establishing a 3-goal lead at the interval. The damage was done by Norwegian strikers Josh King and Magnus Eikrem (a brace), with the third goal of the match the pick of the bunch as Eikrem lobbed the goalie from 25-yards out.
After the break, King, who made his first team debut in the Carling Cup against Wolves, completed his brace with a well-taken solo effort, the striker blazing clear of the Sunderland defence chasing down a ball over the top before producing the calm finish past the keeper.
