It hasn’t been an easy few days for Manchester City striker and Togo captain Emmanuel Adebayor so the initial reaction to his interview on Sky Sports News this evening is to give him the benefit of the doubt.
Adebayor described how he is feeling after the terror attack on the Togo team bus on Friday night in an Arsenal polo shirt with the badge and Nike tick clearly visible.
The former Arsenal striker, who most famously clashed with Robin van Persie at Eastlands earlier this season and ran the length of the pitch to celebrate in front of Gunners fans in October, said “emotionally it is very difficult” and still looked clearly distressed.
With Sol Campbell returning to Arsenal tonight in a reserve clash with West Ham, will this interview spark transfer rumours that Arsene Wenger is planning to bring another former player back to the Emirates?

UPDATE: Just to prove that the footage of Adebayor was new, as has been queried in the comments below, an ITN report into the striker’s strange choice of clothing proving the incident happened yesterday can be seen here.
