Having netted an impressive 18 goals already this season and currently the joint-top leading marksman in League One, 26-year-old Rickie Lambert is the target for a number of clubs following his goalscoring exploits for Bristol Rovers this season.
Interest in Lambert is not a new occurrence for Rovers. With a record of a goal every three games for Bristol, The Pirates are believed to have turned down offers from other Football League clubs in the past. But after recent sightings of West Brom and Bolton representatives at Bristol Rovers’ matches, the lower league club are fighting an uphill battle to hold onto their star striker as the big boys begin sniffing around.
The Trotters are reportedly looking to bolster their attacking options in the second half of the season and Lambert’s reputation as a natural target man with keen eye for goal makes him an attractive option. And the same rings true for the Baggies, who are also seeking to bring in a new front-man in their battle against relegation, particularly having regard to the long-term injury suffered to Ishmael Miller in recent weeks.
Rickie Lambert is believed to be available for around £1 million.
