After months on the sidelines with a mystery back problem, Manchester United welcomed back Rio Ferdinand on Saturday in their Premier League match with Hull. And the centre-half was fortunate to have stayed on the pitch against the Tigers after being caught on camera punching Craig Fagan in the head in an off-the-ball incident.
With Hull having possession in their own defence, Ferdinand took advantage of the officials’ gaze being up the other end of the pitch in the second half when he savagely turned on his opponent and whacked him in the head with a crude punch.
Adding insult to injury, Fagan cruelly got booked for his protests of the assault, and moments later United strolled up the other end and put the game to rest as Rooney scored his second of the match.
