AS cover the interesting latest developments in the neverending David De Gea saga on their front page today.
The Madrid-based paper claim that Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has had a change of heart, and now feels that it’s best to sell De Gea, as there’s no point in keeping an unhappy player at the club.
Van Gaal has observed on the pre-season tour that De Gea’s heart may no longer be with United, and following his errors against PSG, the United manager now feels that selling the keeper is the best port of call.
But that is in contradiction of the United board: Ed Woodward and co remain steadfast that they won’t give in to Real Madrid this time.
AS say that the sales of Beckham and Ronaldo to Madrid are still fresh in the memory with the United hierarchy, and that keeping De Gea is as much about honour as anything else.
