Sad news has emerged from Spain on Sunday following the dramatic conclusion to Barcelona’s 1-1 draw at Valencia.
Luis Suarez had put Barcelona in front from a Leo Messi assist. But, Valencia equalised when Santi Mina crashed the ball past Claudio Bravo from a Paco Alcacer lay-off in the 86th minute.
Marca reported after the match that a 43-year-old Valencia fan died celebrating the equaliser from Santi Mina.
Immediately after it became clear that the fan was undergoing a heart attack, medics came to the area of the stadium where the fan was located.
But, despite medical attention in the stadium, and a cardiac arrest, the Valencia supporter died in hospital at midnight on Saturday evening.
Valencia released a statement, regretting the loss of the fan and shared their grief with all his loved ones.
Valencia face Lyon on Wednesday in their final Champions League group stages match.
