Reggae boy Ricardo Gardner has injected a piece of authentic Jamaican flavour into the Bolton dressing room after releasing his first music video “Move To Your Goal.”
History is full of failed crossovers from football into music, however Gardner has at least avoided the overly cliched path which many of his fellow professionals have fallen into. Rather, staying true to his roots, Gardner’s reggae number is tolerable, while some may even think it is slightly better than that.
Gardner and music are no strangers. For several years now, the long-serving winger has financed the Heart of Love record label in his home country, acting as chief executive.
“Move To Your Goal,” released as a collaboration between Gardner and one of the label’s major stars, Erup, was actually recorded seven years ago for the World Cup in Japan and South Korea. But only now have people begun picking up on the tune.
Going under his nickname of Bibi when it comes to his music, more is to come from Gardner’s foray into the pop-scene with the Bolton man admitting “I think I’ll definitely do more songs in the future.”
As reported in today’s Sun, Bolton captain Kevin Davies has given the tune the thumbs up. “It’s not a bad song, quite catchy. No doubt Ricardo will want it on in the dressing room before games but I’m the skipper now so we’ll have to see about that!”
