William Carvalho isnt joining Arsenal, as Sporting boss Jorge Jesus says midfielder will play more [Record]

Sorry Arsenal fans: you can bet your bottom dollar that William Carvalho isn’t moving to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

The unreliable tabloid press in England (*cough* – insert the Metro – *cough*) have constantly farted over the summer that highly-rated Portuguese midfielder William Carvalho could be moving to the Gunners.

Indeed, noise of the potential transfer got louder in recent weeks, as the Sporting Lisbon player starred at the Under-21 European Championships in the Czech Republic.

William Carvalho, 23, is currently under contract at Sporting until 2018, while the player has a release clause of €45 million. William is also reportedly on just €10,000 a week in wages in Lisbon.

Sporting, however, now seem certain to retain William in 2015-16.

The Lisbon giants recently appointed Jorge Jesus as their new boss, and the former Benfica supremo has now given his first major interview since taking over the job at Sporting.

The front page of Portuguese paper Record on Monday carry Jesus’s quotes relating to William Carvalho: “With me, William will pay more”.

Jorge Jesus added that William Carvalho is a “certainty” to stay at Sporting.
