With Leicester bagging a late win against Norwich, Spurs simply have to bag all three points against Swansea on Sunday as they look to keep the pressure on Claudio Ranieri’s side.
Swansea have not played for 15 days – since the 1-0 home defeat to Southampton – in that time, Tottenham have been busy in the FA Cup and Europa League, so freshness could be a key factor in this match.
The Welsh side are also desperate for the points, sitting just three ahead of the drop zone and have a tricky north London fixture list in the coming days, as they head to Arsenal on Wednesday night.
Francesco Guidolin has a decent record since taking over at Swansea and the Italian will be well aware of Tottenham’s high pressing, so will likely sit back and hope to take advantage of a tiring home side late on.
The likes of Leicester, Newcastle and Crystal Palace last Sunday in the FA Cup, have all made Spurs pay at White Hart Lane, so the blueprint is there.
This could be a tricky afternoon for Spurs, who will have one ear on events at Old Trafford, with Arsenal at Manchester United, as well as an eye on the visit to West Ham on Wednesday.
