Croatian website Vecernji list has dropped a transfer rumour on Saturday night involving Southampton, Tottenham and Liverpool.
According to the report, Saints Croatian international defender Dejan Lovren is now the subject of a £15m bid from Spurs.
Of course, Tottenham are now managed by Mauricio Pochettino, who have moved to White Hart Lane from St Marys.
Vecernji list called Tottenham’s offer “concrete”, whilst also noting that several months ago Liverpool posted a £12m offer for Lovren which was rejected. Yet while the Reds’ approach was turned aside, Vecernji list suggest Spurs’ offer may succeed saying the offer would almost double Southampton’s money in the Croat having signed his for £8.5m from Lyon last summer.
It’s also said that “we should not ignore the fact that [Lovren] just wants to play for his former coach who is now at Spurs”.
